Selection Of Steve Jobs Case Study Commerce Essay

Choice Of Steve Jobs Case Study Commerce Essay The motivation behind this task and the choice of Steve Jobs contextual investigation attract numerous highlights of initiative hypotheses and works associated with Jobs Apple or his business movement. His administration tells again one further thing that occasionally effective pioneers may separate into two camps the entire world : some revere the pioneer and others can't stand him. This sensation isn't so unordinary as case of Margaret Thatchers political initiative and numerous military chiefs throughout the hundreds of years. Apples achievement made Steve Jobs a fruitful pioneer and the primary concern is Jobs individual creation is Apple. During his time there were Bill Gates and Michael Dell who were impressively effective in various pieces of the IT business, however Jobs Apple was consistently the most inventive, the quirkiest, perhaps the coolest of the three brands. At this point, a large number of us previously learned, heard, read and viewed about Steve Jobs numerous commitments to the general public, his accomplishments on numerous records. Shoppers interests about Steve Jobs and the Apple are uncommon in the business world. In Soho I was passing by an Apple store quite recently and discovered blossoms and several post it notes from such a large number of offering thanks to Steve Jobs. As his biographer Walter Isaacson and others have called attention to, nonetheless, Steve Jobs was a long way from perfect.â Id like to remark specifically on his authority and the board style.â It is notable that Steve Jobs could be haughty, domineering, and mean-spirited.â Yet he was an extraordinary pioneer. Things being what they are, this upsets some administration essayists cases and contemplations todays business pioneers should be pleasant, kind, humble (Level 5 authority), and practice worker initiative? I ponder initiative can be explained by two arrangements of viewpoints. One we have to perceive the situational authority. In certain conditions one style could work appropriately yet that probably won't work in some others by any means. Equivocalness or the unexpected issue consistently there while claims being made about the conduct and the qualities of the all inclusive initiative. Woking abroad and driving cross useful worldwide groups unquestionably perceive administration should be adjusted culture explicit. Mr. Occupations administration not referencing his virtuoso exercises was a key part in the achievement of Apple. On the off chance that he had utilized another style, probably won't have the option to make the brilliant progress at Apple. The other one is separated from haughtiness style of Mr. Occupations he had some incredible official pioneers characteristics visionary, daring person, enthusiastic soundness, receptiveness to encounter, and exceptionally engaged, submitted or steady, energetic and uplifting mentality. Not just he jumped into his vision, he ensured companys everybody brought into that made for the organization a higher reason which energized actually the organization workers. His items and interests obviously were unbelievable in Apple. He built up trust among organization individuals not as an originator yet in promoting and item structure. Administration And Organizational Behavior issues To comprehend the appended case studys key angle module Organizational Behavior, I have done a point by point research on Apple Inc. arrangements, initiative techniques and so forth. Adjusted Scorecard Institute characterized the decent scorecard which is an administration and arranging framework used to bring into line business exercises to the vision and the associations methodology, correspondences (interior outside) progress, and against key objectives screen hierarchical execution. Most associations, to bring powerful changes utilize the decent scorecard. Be that as it may, APPLE INC. doesnt execute the scorecard for working changes yet utilizes for long haul execution. It centers around different classifications of estimation in the accompanying request Money related Perspective Shareholder Value Client Perspective Market offer and consumer loyalty Inside Process Perspective Core Competencies The Innovation and Improvement Perspective The three wide-extending Organizational Behavior angles have been taken for example Authority, Motivation, and Change Management to distinguish whether Apple Inc. is following a decent technique or any chance of progress or any prerequisite of complete change. Particularly the center is pretty much circled around the Apple Inc.s CEO Steve Jobs all through the report and the manner in which he have the option to oversee and persuade the Apple Inc.s workers Administration Through the contextual analysis and due to Steve Jobs I profoundly investigated and found on emergency second Apple called him and basically Steve Jobs turned the things around and took the association at top level, genuinely I got enchanted by this man. His initiative styles sets for everybody model, he is visionary and transformational pioneers good example. For instance the cost of Apple share 2% fell on Steve Jobs disease gossip in 2008. On account of some force battles inside, Apple constrained Steve to relinquish his position in 1985 and after that about multi decade Apple was in genuine emergency. In 1996 monetary misfortunes was coming to $81600000 and in 1997 it was $1 billion and rather than $70 per share (1991) it became $14 per share. In 1997 March issue Fortune Magazine depicted Apple as Silicon Valleys paragon of useless administration. (Woods, 1997). Later Apple named Steve Jobs as the CEO and everything began changing even Apple is much ahead than rivals HP, Dell, Microsoft and so on and placed or positioned 6th in the rundown of respectable organizations. Regardless of his all accomplishments, Steve consistently been surrounded with contentions. Next to the worry of the results of Apple, he is turned upward as a business symbol. Change administration comprises of magnetism, inspiration (uplifting), incitement (scholarly) and thought (person). Everyone realizes that Steve Jobs had these all characteristics aside from the last one thought (person). He had a flawlessness accomplishing amazing yearning and went about as a limited armed force to transformed figuring framework. From his past just as the past of Apple we can see his enormity. Todays the advanced picture of the general public is improved by the Apple for example Steve Jobs. During 1985 to 1997, effectively he changed Pixar into a fruitful theory. Just need was Steve Jobs preferred mystery. Apple fabricates trust however never discussed their inevitable items. They generally discussed their accomplished things and this conduct impacts a great deal to the Apple Inc. workers. Hi s self-important and top-down methodology won't work as per William C. Taylor (Harvard Business Review, 2009) With a magnificent discourse capacity and amazing entrancing impact over the crowd and his workers, Steve Jobs is a ground-breaking charming pioneer. He made his workers excited by the alluring force and persuaded clients to purchase Apples items. Aside from his magnetic force he is otherwise called wicked, impolite and degenerate. He didn't regard singular, representatives terrified him, however its flawlessness journey yet at the same time shows his thought for individual is low somewhat. He improved his representatives however not to be simple on them. Overview in 2008 shows that workers were insufficient happy with their reward and pay level yet they had towards the items and the approaches of the organization full enthusiasm. Steve Jobs gigantic characteristics of appealling power, Apple beat others essentially in the business showcase. Despite the fact that alluring authority power coordinated with him however his individual thought doesn't go with him. In this regard my uncert ainty goes whether Steve Jobs is an alluring pioneer or a customized pioneer more. Inspiration The reason and course of act is the mental procedure which is alluded by the Motivation. An association will be profited if the representatives are inspired by compelling profitability however its a mind boggling task as inspiration continues evolving. In 2010, Glassdoor results show obviously that Apples representatives are deferential to their chief and are propelled. A couple of years prior and the current Apple if look at, anybody can without much of a stretch understand that Jobs was exceptional to get his representatives duty appropriately that demonstrated Apples workers inspiration. At the point when greatness expected then representatives need not be told anything said by Steve Jobs in 1989, at first needs to mentor them. the inspiration model of the Maslows chain of command of requirements (1943) portrays that the necessities can be characterized into these stages (counting last need being fundamental need most). SELF ACTUALISATION Doing what best you can do Regard NEEDS Self-regard and regard from others Having a place Acceptance and being a piece of something Wellbeing NEEDS Physical and Psychological security PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS Hunger, Thirst, Rest and so on. Regard , Belonging and Self Actualisation needs are as featured is that as per me, these are the underperformances in the Apples inspiration level for workers. Apple never put hard rigging on the representatives inspiration as they never comprehended what organization thinking of straightaway. They are confined to move between various departments by utilizing electronic identifications as fear mongers. Occupations kept programming and equipment office isolated and set in various structures. Steve Jobs continually searching for flawlessness, a famous chief, rather than propel he utilized his stick. This certainly isn't followed the Maslows pecking order of requirements. Steve Jobs was an absolutist as he needed individuals to hear him out. In spite of the fact that development is a piece of the association of the workers however this hypothesis had an uncertainty on Apples advancement. Unquestionably it clashes with the Self Actualisation Stage of Maslows chain of importance. In 2006, Roderick Kramer composed for Harvard Business Review, a specific level of forcefulness may end up being valuable with regards to taking care of unmanageable issues. Along these lines, Steve employments consistently took a shot at his own specific manner and conveyed remarkable outcomes doesn't imply that his ways is the correct way. Since its not about Steve Jobs, its the inquiry concerning Apple Inc. In this way, along these lines the manner in which Jobs worked is n

Police Corruption Essay

Presentation Police defilement must be considered as an imaginable social expense of the authoritative formation of ‘victimless’ wrongdoings: this is a by and large acknowledged finish of broad scholastic and authority examinations, which has significantly affected conversations of betting control approach in the USA (Morin Commission 1976: 40-2). Such eagerness to talk about defilement and its belongings stands out from the official hesitance to do as such and the guarded response which charges of debasement incite in the UK (Doig 1984). Defilement and charges of debasement have happened normally in British police history, and betting has regularly been included. During the 1820s and 1830s, lotteries and gaming were the sources (Miller 1977: 126-48). In 1877, a wagering embarrassment was at the core of the principal significant debasement outrage to stand up to the rearranged ‘New Police’ (Clarkson and Richardson 1889: 261). There is little question that, until 1960, police-bookmaker relations of changing degrees of inappropriateness were ordinary practice and that their reality was no mystery in average workers networks. As indicated by Harry Daley, who served in the Metropolitan Police from the 1920s to the 1940s: Assortment was very simple. The bookmaker was as a rule down a rear entryway or behind a bar. You drew nearer gradually, looking straight ahead with what you trusted resembled noble apathy, and cleaned up the half crown from the edge on which he had put it before escaping the route for you to pass. Brewers’ draymen, window cleaners, painters and decorators, tattling ladies, all suspended their exercises for a second or two to watch the natural function . . . I wish they could have sent the cash to me in a plain envelope, as I was already aware they did to my Superintendent . . . ( 1986: 94-5). Stage-oversaw captures were a piece of the course of action, as an observer from ‘the other side’, Arthur Harding, clarified: It was what they called ‘taking a turn’. In certain divisions it was three times each year, to show the specialists at Scotland Yard when they made up their insights that the police were carrying out their responsibility. In each division the police had two men whose activity it was to take the bookmakers in. They didn’t need to stow away in a truck or anything like that, they’d come round very obliging and state, ‘Albert, stick a man up tomorrow, we’re having a raid’ (Samuel 1981: 180). 15 Degenerate police-bookmaker dealings involved considerable worry during the time of this investigation for the 1923 Select Committee, yet additionally for two Royal Commissions on parts of policing. It will be contended that this issue affected approach conversations. Be that as it may, it was only from time to time examined obviously: for it to be an adequate subject of open discussion, it must be introduced in the prohibitive edge of reference which is commonly applied to debasement in British open life. This is developed around an official talk of ‘rotten apples’ and ‘black sheep’ which creates shallow clarifications, limits the size of the issue, and stresses that the specialists are careful and focused on the destruction of defilement (Doig 1984: 382-6). At the point when exposure implied that police defilement couldn't be openly overlooked, the harm which it caused could be contained by managing it inside this casing of reference. It was seldom in anyone’s enthusiasm to challenge this methodology. The police and the Home Office were clearly content not to do as such. Regardless of offers of invulnerability from indictment, the bookmakers felt that horrible would originate from being real to life about their relations with the police. At last, it was a cumbersome issue for enemies of card sharks to raise: while they turned out to be all the more straightforward in later years, this stayed an issue which must be suggested cautiously on the off chance that something besides official protectiveness was not out of the ordinary accordingly. In this way, it would be naã ¯ve to expect a precise image of police debasement to rise up out of the official reports and papers to which access is conceivable. The current goal isn't to endeavor to create such an image: rather, it is important to look at fundamentally the manner by which police defilement was talked about in the official hearings and reports of the period so as to establish the contention that debasement involved impressive worry to those associated with the reexamination of betting control arrangement, and that it was an imperative, regardless of whether unsaid, factor in the conversations of police-network relations which will be analyzed in Sections v and vii. Such sources are helpful for this reason inasmuch as one is ‘prepared to work â€Å"against the grain of the material†Ã¢â‚¬Ëœ and to be ‘continuously mindful of how classifications and feelings are misshaped by the analytical procedure’ (Harrison 1982: 308, citing Samuel). The capability ‘officially’ is crucial here: the point which this counter-position clouds is that when cops and others discussed damage to the ‘moral character’ of the power, a reference (which didn't need to be made express) was being made to the danger and the impacts of police defilement. So far, the term ‘police corruption’ has been utilized freely: before going further, it is imperative to take note of the qualification between two general classifications of police aberrance. The inclination of numerous observers to treat police debasement essentially as far as pay off as a money related exchange between two people (or gatherings of people) can infer surrendering to the official talk about defilement (Shearing 1981: 4). Shearing separates between ‘corruption’, characterized as movement creating individual, ordinarily money related, gain for a cop, and ‘organizational police deviance’, characterized as action ‘designed to facilitate authoritative destinations as opposed to advance monetary gain’ (1981: 2). Police culture has routinely recognized debasement according to genuine violations and corresponding to minor ‘regulatory’ offenses (Devereux 1949: 81). In the last case, debasement is seen not as demonstrative of a more profound dishonesty, however as an adequate strategy for arranging a middle of the road regular relationship with the general population. The significant, progressively broad point appeared here is that law requirement is just one of a few, perhaps contending police targets. As the Morin Commission called attention to, police tact ‘is expansive enough to allow the building up of strategies planned for accomplishing objectives other than that dared to be expected by statuteâ€total prohibition’ (1976: 38). These incorporate improvement of the police’s picture and open request support. Without a doubt, the last is more basic to policing than law implementation: Wrongdoing battling has never been, isn't, and couldn't be the prime action of the police . . . The center command of the police, truly and as far as solid requests set upon the police is the more diffuse one of request upkeep (Reiner 1985: 171-2).â THE NATURE OF POLICE CORRUPTION An Example of Chicago Police Corruption Case Lazarus Averbuch lived on the close to West Side, abounding with poor Russian Jews by day, yet around evening time a saturnalia of bad habit and wrongdoing. Cocaine addicts with hopeless clear gazes rearranged all through Adolph Brendecke’s drugstone on Sangamon Street for their day by day fix, gave cautiously under the counter for 25 pennies a sack. Among Morgan and Green Streets Mike â€Å"de Pike† Heitler ran a white slave racket under the careful gazes of Inspector Edward McCann, a bull-necked, harsh cut cop whose most prominent delight was playing cribbage in the back room of the Des Plaines Street Station. [1]A little gold cross was attached to the front of his vest, for McCann was a righteous man who attempted to ingrain in his nine kids the Christian temperances. â€Å"I’d state I was happy to be suspended and get an opportunity to remain at home and play with the kids,† he said in answer to State’s Attorney John Wayman, whose persistent campaign revealed reality with regards to McCann. For a considerable length of time McCann claimed tribute from the most noteworthy card shark supervisors to the lowliest lady of the night. Insurance cash was conveyed in a cowhide handbag as per guidelines given to Louis and Julius Frank, two of Hitler’s men. The cost of working together on the West Side in 1909 rose to $550 every month, a total that the criminal panders at last wouldn't pay. With his cash McCann bought a stable of prized race ponies. â€Å"If I had been joining I wouldn’t have driven such a large number of individuals out of business,† he stated, neglecting to include that lone the insubordinate components who wouldn't settle up were ousted from the area. McCann was prosecuted by a fantastic jury, sentenced, and sent to the Joliet Penitentiary on September 24, 1909. It was one of the hardest-battled cases in the court framework up to that time. Wayman put together his case with respect to the declaration of West Side black market figures, which raised a few questions about McCann’s blame or honesty. After the jail entryways hammered shut the companions of the overseer flowed a request asking the senator to allow official forgiveness. Thirty thousand individuals, including church pioneers, settlement laborers, agents, and previous President Theodore Roosevelt, who had served for a period as police magistrate of New York, appended their marks to the archive. Colonel Roosevelt refered to McCann’s real record before he was sent toward the West Side as an explanation behind an official acquittal. Without a doubt, the scorecard, in any event on a superficial level, demonstrated a bigger number of hits than misses. Since taking over as controller of the West Side District in March 1908, McCann was credited with canceling many corrupt houses, the arrival of 200 errant young ladies to their

The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins? This quote shows how Edgar Allan Poe was obsessed with life and death because in it he explains that life and death is best left shadowy and vague. This means that life and death should be left a mystery. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Edgar Allan Poe Research Paper" essay for you Create order His obsession started when he lost all of the important people in his life. Edgar was born January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was an orphan at a young age and taken in by his foster parents John Allan and Frances Allan. Poe grew to become one of the most known and respected writers in American history. Edgar Allan Poe mostly wrote horror and mystery stories and poems which were mostly inspired by his tragic life. In the poem Spirits of the Dead Poe questioned where people go when they die. However, in the poem The Raven Poe questions whether he is going to hell and if he will ever see his family members again. In the story The Masque of The Red Death, Poe writes about how you cannot cheat death. Poe was a misunderstood man who was constantly questioning the concept of Heaven and Hell. Edgar Allan Poe lost many people in a short time including his mother, his foster mother, and his wife. This influenced Poe to write poems and stories about his loved ones, one story being Spirits of The Dead. This poem questions where people go when they die. One quote from Spirits of the Dead is be silent in that solitude which is not loneliness-for then This quote shows that dead people are in solitude and that death, loneliness, and solitude are all different state of being. The poem is about how the main character is at a graveyard and missing his loved one. He questions where the loved one is and when will he see them again. The main character says how the people in earth are around you again in death, when The spirits of the dead who stood In life before thee are again In death around thee This poem relates to Poe when his mom died. When Poes mother died, he was only adopted because of Frances. Shortly after he was adopted in 1812, Frances became very ill. John All an started not to like Edgar because he thought of Edgar as ungrateful. In the book Edgar Allan Poe The Strange Man Standing in the Shadows by Charlotte Montague, John Allan was described as impulsive and quick tempered This often affected Poe when John took his rage out on him. John Allan was a tobacco merchant but Poe had no interest in it. In the article from poemuseum.com it explained that early poetic verses scrawled in a young Poes handwriting show how little interest Edgar had in the tobacco business. As Poe grew up, John Allan liked him less and less and soon disowned him after he was discharged from West Point. Edgar then started writing some of his first poems and stories. Poe then heard the news of his foster mothers death. This was devastating for Poe because Frances was a very important person in his life. She was the only reason Edgar got adopted. She was always kind to him unlike John Allan. Therefore, her death was one of the reasons he wrote Spirits of t he Dead. The poem Spirits of the Dead also states that where people go when they die is a mystery of mysteries. When Poe got older he got married to his cousin. He loved his wife a lot but money was always tight as stated in Edgar Allan Poe Museum. However, Virginia, his wife caught tuberculosis which was a disease that infects your lungs. Virginia eventually died, which left Poe devastated and unable to write for months according to poemuseum.com. Therefore, Edgar Allan Poes writing was inspired by the deaths of the people closest to him. Another poem that is about the death of his loved ones is The Raven. In this poem, the setting is the main characters chamber or bedroom. The poem starts, Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary. This line explains how the day is dreary and that the main character is very tired. It was in a bleak December and he eagerly I/he wished the morrow;-vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow-sorrow for the lost Lenore- This line from the poem explains how the main character is trying to distract his mind with a book so he will not think of Lenores death. He was disturbed by a knocking on the window and thought it was Lenore, his dead wife. The main character was terrified when he heard the knocking. The main character thinks, And the silken, sad, uncertain, rustling of each purple curtain Thrilled me-filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before; This line from the poem shows how the main character is thrilled by the curtains. The ma in character is thrilled because he likes to be scared since nothing exciting happened to him. However the It was a raven that was actually at his window. The main character is very lonely since Lenore died. A line in the poem that supports this is, For the rare and radiant maiden who the angels named Lenore- Nameless here for evermore. The main character starts to ask the raven if he will ever see Lenore again. In the poem Lenore is actually Virginia, Poes dead wife, and wants to know if he will ever see Virginia again. The raven says, Nevermore which enrages the speaker. Near the end of the story, he yells at the raven, prophet! Said I, thing of evil-prophet still if bird or devil- This shows how the main character is scared and enraged at the raven, and in this case, death. In the story, the raven symbolizes death. The raven hints that the main character is going to hell, and will never see Lenore again when, Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door! Quoth the raven, Nevermore. This shows how the raven will be with the main character even when he dies. At the end of the poem, the main character dies and writes, And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating in the floor Shall be lifted-nevermore! Poe wrote this poem to question if he will ever see his loved ones again. Poe wanted to know this because he missed all of his loved ones including his mom, his foster mother, and his wife. His writing subjects were based off his hard life. An example being The Tell Tale Heart when the main character takes his rage out on an old man just because of his eye. This rage symbolizes the rage that Poe had on the men in his life. His life affected the way he dressed, which was very formal but very dark. His past life also affected the way he criticized other authors writing. During Poes life, he always thought that he was a bad person and was afraid to die. He thought that he was going to hell because of his life choi ces such as drinking and being very critical to other peoples writing. Poe wrote this poem to express his feelings of never seeing his family again. According to HomeCivicNational News, One by one, everyone he loved (including his foster mother, his older brother, and his young wife Virginia) died before him. This passage shows how Edgar lost all of the important people in his life. However, Edgar Allan Poe wanted to know if he will ever see his loved ones again and if he was going ro hell in The Raven. The Masque of The Red Death is a story that talks about how you cannot cheat death, because it will come and take you eventually. The story starts off by explaining what the red death was, There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution. However, the red death was not real. Poe based it off of the black death and tuberculosis. The story continues by describing Prince Prospero, Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious. However, Prince Prospero was selfish because he tried to avoid the red death when he, summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court When the people he called were in his castle, he held a masquerade. The story then explains Prince Prosperos castle and the different colored rooms, These windows were of stained glass whose color varied in accordance with the prevailing hue of the decorations of the chamber into which it opened. T he different colored rooms represent your lifespan, blue being your birth, purple being your young years, green your teen years and going into adulthood, orange being your early adulthood, white your older years of adulthood, dark purple being your last years of life, and red being death. The waltzers all danced in these rooms but they tried to avoid the red room, But in the western or black chamber the effect of the fire-light that streamed upon the dark hangings through the blood tinted panes, was ghastly in the extreme, and produced so wild a look upon the countenances of those who entered, that there were few of the company bold enough to set foot within its precincts at all There was also a giant ebony clock in the red room. (conclusion)Poe was found outside a tavern six days later after he left for Philadelphia. He was delirious and drunk. Poe was not in his own clothes when he was found. He was rushed to the hospital and was in and out of consciousness. Four days later he died. There are many theories of why he died. One of the most common theories is he died of a brain tumor. Another theory is that he died of too much alcohol. No one knows the true cause of his death. Despite his untimely death, Edgar Allan Poe brought to light the darkness of his thoughts and his opinion of the afterlife. He questioned concepts that many people are afraid of, and that is why he is one of the most famous writers in American History.

The narrator, who is never named, is depi cted as a woman who is confined and repressed based on her gender. During the late nineteenth century, Gilman wrote â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† as the feminist movement was going through its first surge and was continuously expanding. Gilman was considered â€Å"the idol of radical feminists† (Degler 21) and the â€Å"most original and challenging mind, which the women’s movement produced† (Degler 21). One of the major themes found throughout Gilman’s stories is â€Å"to show the disastrous and all-pervasive effects upon women and upon society of the continued suppression of her sex† ( Degler 22). This theme is depicted in Gilman’s â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† when the narrator hints at being confined in her marriage, by saying â€Å"he is very careful and loving, and hardly lets me stir without special direction† (Gilman 210). The narrator is unable to see how much her husband’s confinement is affecting her well b eing. All of the restrictions that were put on women during the nineteenth century began the formation of Gilman’s feminist character (Degler 24). The ending of â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† shows the female character breaking free from these pervasive social norms. Gilman uses numerous symbols to depict the confinement and degradation of women as well. The woman seen behind the wallpaper symbolizes the

Addressing childhood obesity at school entry: Qualitative experiences of school health professionals.Journal of Child Health Care,20(3), 304-313. In the paper by Turner et al. (2016), the research is a qualitative study, which aims to explore the experiences of the school health professionals in addressing the problem of childhood obesity and lifestyle issues with the families. It intends to identify their training needs. A qualitative research design includes flexible and sensitive methods such as structured/semi-structured interview or open ended discussion and focus groups and is grounded in an interpretivist position (Robinson, 2014). According to Robinson (2014), purposive sampling is preferred in qualitative research design, which is subjective. The sampling in this research article is based on the objective that the participants are placed on different roles in delivering care and address childhood obesity. The research methodology includes semi-structured interview to obtain experiences of the managers. In this method, a set of questions are as asked that are predetermined and which can prompt discussion. It gives the researcher to explore particular theme and new ideas to be brought up, which will create foundation for the research. It maintains the balance between the focus of ethnographic survey and the open-ended interview (Brinkmann, 2014). The researcher has conducted two focus groups with the school nurses and the practioners. A focused group interview means interacting with individuals who have common frame of reference and may are unfamiliar to each other. It gives insights into how certain opinions can be used to evaluate existing programs on obesity or develop new interventions by analysing how people think and feel. This method will help obtain their diverse experiences in regards to the social service. Focus groups gives rich textual data on the focussed issue (Mann, 2016). An open-ended email questionnaire was provided to those participants unable to attend the focus group. This questionnaires involves and excludes simple yes/no as in quantitative surveys. This method will give further information for later quantitative analysis. The open-ended questions generates meaningful answer to the existing research questions of social science (Brinkmann, 2014). The article uses thematic analysis for data interpretation. This method involves recording, transcribing, examining and identifying patterns of themes associated with research questions (Mann, 2016). Conclusion According to Silverman (2016) qualitative study is based on social constructivism perspective. It helps gain insights into the attitudes, preferences and beliefs of the stakeholders. As this method includes direct observation and in-depth evaluation with the target population it helped in identifying the factors, affecting the decision-making, which is not feasible in quantitative analysis (Mann, 2016). The rationale for selecting this particular article, is to enhance knowledge on qualitative research paradigm. The chosen articles includes only qualitative research elements and excludes any use of quantitative method, systematic review and literature review. Thus, it satisfied the study purpose. Adventures Of Huck Finn And Civilization Essays - Huckleberry Finn

Adventures Of Huck Finn And Civilization In the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck rejects "sivilized" life. He dreads the rules and conformities of society such as religion, school, and anything else that will eventually make him civilized. He feels cramped in his new surroundings at the Widow Douglas's house. He would rather be in his old rags and sugar-hogshead because he was free and satisfied. He felt out of place when he tried being "sivilized" because he grew up fending for himself and to him it felt really lonely. Huck Finn grew up living in the woods and pretty much raised himself because his pap was a drunk. He never had a civilized lifestyle and he believed that his way of living was good enough for him. He was free to do what ever he liked and that is how he learned to live. He did not believe in school because all you need to know to live is not found in a book that you read at school. He believed that you learned by living out in the wild. Huck would rather be an individual than conform to society. Huck would rather follow his heart then his head and because of this Huck is ruled as a bad person because in society your suppose to use your head. Huck is being penalized for his beliefs and he does not want to be apart of a lifestyle that does not support his ways. For instance his choice not to turn in Jim shows that Huck understands why Jim is escaping. Huck sees Jim as a friend not as a slave and so he truly is able to see that society's way of treaty Jim is wrong. Huck is portrayed as a boy who sees life at face value and not by the set"standards" of the "sivilized" society. The rejection of the"sivilized" lifestyles shows that Huck does not agree with it rules. Because of this, he is able to see life from different perspectives. He can sympathize with all the class in society. He learns to figure out what is morally correct and wrong. Through out his journey down the river, Huck is able to learn more about himself and others. His adventures has taught him more than he will ever learn just by reading books. Huck is able to live a great life just by reacting to situations as they come along. Huck is better off not living a"sivilized" lifestyle because that is how he learns. Huck's rejection of a"sivilized" life can be seen as being rebellious, but as you read more and more about Huck's adventures, you come to the realization that this has helped Huck to become a well rounded person. Huck is a practical and realistic person who grows more and more as he deals with every situation he is put in, but during his time, it was not right for a child to be on his own because they are too young to know anything and they need guidance through school and religion. Even though Huck is young, he has learned a lot by reading and by self-study. Huck believes in being free so he can able to adjust to situations rather than living a set life. Huck learns without the help of school and other forms that will eventually make him "sivilized"and he intends to keep it that way and therefore he runs away from the "sivilized" society. Huck learns from his actions and mistakes and not from others and that is how he grows mentally and physically.

Hippie Movement essays

Hippie Movement essays The 1960s brought once again, another war. The Hippie Peace Movement was now in full force, and a new culture of peace and love was now being encouraged. With a war being fought in South East Asia, young people in the United States were being drafted into a war they did not wish to fight. Many of them fled to Canada, where a similar peace movement grew and gained Support. The 1960s were seen as an immoral time, both for teenagers, and for governments. With an unjust war being fought, and the immoral behaviour of sex, drugs and lust being used by people all over the continent, the 1960s were by far one of the most controversial times this century. The controversy extended itself beyond the family life, and the society which expected its children to lead moral lives, join the army, was now coming under threat from the Government, and from the children themselves. The Hippie Peace Movement brought a message that said it was okay for people to do drugs, have sex and disobey their government, in an act of defiance against war. Though, drugs, sex and disobedience may not have been encouraged, the message came loud and clear, and the people the message was reaching out to, were acting upon it. That very hippie peace movement, lasted throughout the 60s and today we look back on it as an act of pacifism, maybe not in the most ethically moral sense, but the affects of anti-war that were brought up 40 years ago are still very strong today. The hippie movement affects us in the way that disobedience to ones government, may put an end to a war, but the means of this very disobedience may challenge the morals of your society, and culture. ...

Free Will and Personal Responsibility Case Study

Free Will and Personal Responsibility - Case Study Example To prove the superman theory, they murdered a fourteen year-old boy named Bobby Franks. Also, they committed the murder of Franks to prove that they were intelligent enough to outsmart the police and create the perfect crime. However, because of the negligence of leaving behind Leopold's glasses near the dead body, the police was able to prove that they were the perpetrator of the crime. Ultimately, they had been convicted for the crime that they committed. The defense counsel of Leopold and Loeb presented a closing argument justifying the murder committed against Franks. The main argument of the closing speech is that Leopold and Loeb's act of murdering Franks was a necessary consequence of their background, their upbringing and the principles of Nietzsche. According to the defense counsel, all these factors drove them to killing another person. The combinations of said factors afforded no other result other than the horrific crime committed. As such, Leopold and Loeb could not be held responsible for their actions. Therefore, they should not be punished for killing Franks. To support this argument the lawyer presented the three points. First, Loeb's and Leopold's upbringing served as a breeding ground for a twisted sense of morality. Loeb was raised by a governess who pushed him too hard on his studies. It was because of the strictness of the governess that Loeb was swayed into rebellion. And the form of rebellion that he took is to read detective stories that were forbidden to him. Loeb's fascination lead to him to observe that in all these stories, the detective always wins. The detective always figures out the puzzle to the crime. Because of this, he became challenged. He became captivated and obsessed to formulating the perfect crime - one that may not be solved by the brightest detective. Leopold on the other hand was an intellectual. Because of this, he was accelerated in school. On the downside, he failed to develop this emotional part of his being. He was so smart that he took a liking to Philosophy, particularly the teachings of Nietzsche. And Nietzsche believed that an intelligent man is above the law and morality. The second thing that the lawyer pointed out is that with the fascination in detective stories, it is but understandable that a highly intellectual person would be challenged to formulate an undetectable crime. They would prove that the detectives do not always win. From the lawyer's point of view, because of this challenge, it was natural that they create the perfect crime. Hence, Loeb cannot be faulted for his creation. The strictness of his governess and the challenge brought by detective stories was to be blamed for his action. The third point that the lawyer raised for Loeb and Leopold's defense is the teaching of Nietzsche. Nietzsche was strong in his teachings that the intelligent man is not bound by the ordinary rules in morality. Than in fact, the superman is the law by himself. Leopold firmly believe this. And because of which, what else can be the result but a series of acts defying the law and morals The last defense that the lawyer raised was that of insanity. He claimed that who in their right mind would exchange

Waste Elimination Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Waste Elimination - Coursework Example The system uses a two-way approach focusing and driving both customers, internal as well as external. The basic purpose of Lean Manufacturing is to eliminate waste at all levels of production including the product design, factory management, supplier networks and customer relations. Its basic aim is to reduce the overall human effort, reduce the inventory storage, taking less production time and less space to become responsive to customer demands while also producing high quality products in the most economic and efficient manner. In this context waste is defined as anything that customer is not willing to pay for (Ramnath, et al., 2010). In the current environment, no company in production or engineering can achieve success without the incorporating the lean production methods in their systems. The Lean production methods or the TPS system given by TaiichiOhno serves as a strong base for competitive, successful and modern flow of materials. (Berlec & Starbek, 2009) In the manufactur ing process any activity that doesn’t add value to the product is considered to be waste. Hence it is important for the company to identify the waste in the processes and to find out ways that can be used to eliminate these wastes in order to achieve success and to remain competitive. The seven types of wastes include(Hutchins, n.d.): 1. Overproduction - Producing more than the customer requires 2. Waiting - Excessive machine time/downtime, or waiting for upstream information/advice 3. Transport – transportation of goods over long distances 4. Over processing – producing more than what is required by the customer 5. Inventory – Parts or stock which are not currently being worked on and are stored 6. Motion – the search for tools and other accessories 7. Defects – working out the defects In addition to these other categories have also been added to this which includes: Raw material and energy Damage to the environment Background Honda motor c ompany was established in 1948 by Soichiro Honda with its core emphasis on competing in the Japanese motorcycle industry. However in the year 1962, Honda manufactured its first car and by the year 1995 the Honda group was manufacturing, selling, and repairing motorcycles and cars as well as other power products. Honda was the first Japanese company to establish its operations in US. Its first plant for producing motorcycles was in America, outside Marysville, Ohio in 1979. The company expanded its Marysville facility so as to gain localization which included: Production, products, profit and management. (Maxwell, et al., 1998) Environmental Policy and Management In the early 1990’s political pressure was built up concerning the environmental issue therefore to address these Honda strengthen its commitment to environment and its protection by adopting a Global Environmental Declaration and also by addressing the environmental issues on a global level. The Global Environmental Declaration dictated how each Honda company should strive to evaluate the impact of their activities to the environment, and to design the products in such a way that can reduce the impact of use and disposal, can help in recycling and conservation of energy and resources and to promote awareness in the employees and society. Honda adopted a policy that emphasized on the responsibility of

The conduct and preparation of lessons Essay Example for Free

The conduct and preparation of lessons Essay Read the previous chapter and the chapter you’re on. If short on time, read only the first and last paragraph Write questions down about the subtitles. Ask them to the teacher if they aren’t answered during the lesson Examine images carefully Write down new words and concepts Try to make a connection to the previous lesson During class On each page of notes leave a space on top (for a summary) and a side bar to add an outline later Copy every sample-problem, with all the intermediate steps Note: bog ideas/concepts, images and legends and all that is repeated Do not worry about presentation, just keep your notes minimalist even if it takes up more paper Ask questions After class Fill â€Å"empty spots† in your notes and clear up doubts asap Use your personal system of processing info to organize it (do you like flashcards, plain notes?) Try to connect new info with previous knowledge Write down the summary Think what the purpose of this lesson was: which principles were applied and to which problems? Add the outline to your notes Think up aditional questions Try to get a head start on your homework Read again the chapter in study and do it actively (underline, ask questions and shit) and relate it to your homework Study Before getting started make sure you have all you need The hours you have pre-designated for study must be sacred! (video games and outing with friends should be re-scheduled to your free time) Learn things ONCE by asking the question â€Å"why?† repeatedly until you truly understand shit No multitasking with music or TV (do what works best for you but I work best in complete silence of lyric-less upbeat music in a low volume) Organize knowledge in webs where concepts connect instead of boxes where they are by creating connections with pictures and examples. If needed, force it with a stupid metaphor Do not â€Å"go study†: have specific tasks you want to accomplish like solving a list of 5 problems or reading one chapter. Put a deadline on it too Pay attention to the environment before you start: is it right? Examine furniture, supplies and noise. You can’t concentrate right in a wobbly chair Work over the same content in different ways: read, rewrite, summarize Rewrite your notes in small sets for easy reviewing Study in small chunks of time with breaks (pomodoro?) When in break, get up, move and be social Make mini-guides with the answers to all the questions about a certain subject. It makes for easy reviewing Make a formula guide/sheet for each course  At the end of each study session: review, ask stuff, read, read aloud, test yourself about it Or just read, rewrite and read what you wrote  Verify your dominion over a theoretical fact by stating it, explaining why and connecting it with other ideas. List a typical problem featuring it and how it helps solve it Break it down in simpler and simpler terms until you can explain to someone who doesn’t know shit about it like an arts major or something Keep in mind the forgetting curve and schedule review sessions  accordingly. Repeat each content the day itself, the following day, week and month. This means each day you should review stuff you were taught yesterday, last week and last month Assignments Make a list of goals Plan how you’ll get to them Reverse engineer your dates, use something like http://planner.bulibtools.net/ Ask the teacher to clarify any question about the assignment asap Gather all the info you can  Research it  Organize all the info you have into chapters or themes before you begin Write in two phases: free writing with no edit and careful editing, leaving at least 24h between stages Deliver a good looking version to the teacher, even if you need to rewrite it Look for feedback before the deadline if possible Presentations Include slides for presentation, outline, a section title and a summary in the end Keep the slides tidy and simple  Talk to the audience, don’t read Keep eye contact, ask for questions Reading When reading take notes, make small summaries, ask questions Make yourself a mini quiz and answer it at the end of each chapter Problems  Start the resolution of a problem asap  Read the instructions twice, the whole thing  Reduce it as much as possible  What it the principle they want you to apply?  What do you need to find? Name them  What to I have? List given data and formulae  Make a scheme, legend it, name all variables, given data, units used and whatnot If you can’t go on on your own, reread the relevant chapter first and your notes on it too Try by yourself first before asking for help from a teacher or older student Start with the easy tasks On a difficult problem, do all you can. When stuck, try to identify why. If you still don’t know how to unstuck yourself after a break, ask for help Verify if your solution is plausible Verify your resolution, solution and units  Later on, remake by yourself every problem you needed help with Practice with real problems as much as possible At the teacher’s office Go remove doubts you have Make specific questions Verify your progress Bring supplies This isn’t a class! Ask for feedback about your self-made tests At home Before going to sleep, review your day (study and self-evaluation) Plan tomorrow with tasks and times, be attentive to priorities and energy levels Pick your clothes for tomorrow  Verify your calendar for important stuff coming up  Keep a to-do list  Establish a cutoff hour for work after which you are no longer productive. For me it’s 22 or 10pm Keep your shit mostly organized so you can find whatever you need easily Before tests/exams (madness week) Start early, 2 weeks early if needed Make a set of compressed notes, using your mini-guides and notes Check your progress Ask for help now if you need it Review your homework problems (remake them?) Make a list of themes you need to study Make sure of what you can do in the available time: be equal parts realistic and ambitious Solve previous exams, make your own and solve them Ask the teacher for help with your sample tests Solve more problems Give all the subjects a â€Å"once over† before there’s only a week to the exam. Then you can ask for help before everyone else is too. Diversify your study,  all disciplines/courses each day for the same reason Define the exam: how long it lasts, what do you need to bring, how much it’s worth to your grade, content being evaluated, place The night before: quick review of related content, make your backpack including a snack and water, go to bed early and avoid sugar During tests/exams Bring 2 pencils and pens Avoid caffeine Get there 15 min early  Hear the instructions given verbally very carefully  Write down your name and read the whole thing (twice) before starting Start with the easy ones  Show all your work, no step is too small  Schedule  Keep your self in the loop by scheduling reading in your downtime. Include a magazine relevant to your field like a science journal Leave extra hours to fill when an urgent assignment comes up or an exam, and extra hours for fun too! Check if the time you are dedicating to academia is enough for your success Block off mandatory study time for each course per week. Use it to study, do homework and generally keep up with the program Include at least two extra catching up hours in the week. If you’ve been good with the rest, it will mostly be free time but use it to finish last details on an assignment or something Evaluate the value that extra-curricular bring to your life compared to how much time they take up Schedule a weekly hour as a review time: review your previous week and plan the next, paying attention to deadlines Work daily: at least 9 to 5 like a real job. This should make sure every night is free and with no pending work Motivation Studying is not a race, it’s more like a stretch before one Success is a skill Stick to the plan Make checklists to stick to the plan Don’t aim to outshine the brightest (yet), outshine the average student Work until your idols are rivals When in downtime think which the best use of your time is. Learn something Goals aren’t easy but they shouldn’t be either You may regret it along the way but don’t complain: boot camp is hard Don’t fight the system: learn it and make it work for you Dont be a problem Respect your leaders Respect is earned, slowly, keep your cool Fear motivates, panic paralyzes. Don’t panic Do not wait for inspiration. Take responsibility and act Make goals clear, simple and ambitious Answer the three magical questions: what to I want? What will I do to get it? What am I willing to give up? You’re in control, always Do small tasks to earn motivation Personal Gain energy without caffeine: bright light, movement, music Connect with people: share info that interests THEM, ask that to other people (maybe even introduce them), offer help, don’t ask for anything yet Later: share more info to their interest (or even to their family), introduce two contacts of yours, invite them to interesting FREE event Avoid heavy foods and studying around lunch (zzz) Try themed weeks in your down time to research and learn about stuff that interests you like photography or survival tricks On vacation Review goals Start projects Enjoy rest Keep your mind in shape (read) Study something you like/love Get ready for the â€Å"next round†

Shiloh : Changing Lives In Different Directions Essay -- essays resear

In the story â€Å"Shiloh†, by Bobbie Ann Mason, characters Leroy and Norma Jean go through changes in their life as each begin to discover what their real identity is, and what it is they actually want out of their marriage. For some people this may take years, and for others they may never realize it, while merely trying to grasp on to the past, or the way they think things should have turned out. In this short story, Mason uses a couple in their thirties to portray people who are experiencing these types of changes, and depict how they deal with the situation. In the end, the couple is faced with dealing with the inevitable fact that they indeed cannot save their marriage; it was a battle they could not win. However, before the story climaxes, the reader is given a chance to witness some of the characters’ changes in identity and values. Norma Jean and Leroy struggle through their relationship because of miscommunication, trying to live through their past, and reali zing that they have changed and grown apart. Mason does an effective job of giving the reader a view of what is taking place in both characters’ lives. She makes the characters seem average, easily allowing the reader to identify with the changes the characters are going through with their relationship. In the beginning, an understanding of the background information is presented to the reader through the exposition, explaining Norma Jean and Leroy’s relationship. Since the accident that has now left Leroy at home, he has become indolent, and seems to be milking his injury for all that it is worth. Norma Jean, however, is a cosmetic consultant, who in her spare time, is taking some college courses and becoming more interested in exercising and expanding her life. The story picks up when Leroy is back home, and is finally beginning to look at Norma Jean in a new light after feeling guilty for not being with her for all of these years. Sadly, this realization is after many years of his periodical absence. Since then Norma Jean has been forced to become used to a life without him. When Leroy says, â€Å"Norma Jean is miles away,† (74) as they sit at the kitchen table, he realizes that even though the couple is finally able to reunite and spend time together, they feel as though they are distant and do not know each other. On a more personal level the characters do have their personality diffe... ...yle that is placed before her. She was rushed into a marriage just as fast as she decided she wanted out of it. With the pressure of expecting a child, and then coping with the absence of her husband for fifteen years, Norma Jean tried to make things work, working around Leroy. Finally, after awhile it seemed as though she was pushed to the limit, and she decided to do something for herself. Norma Jean probably did not have it in mind to grow apart from Leroy, but she had to find herself before she could completely love someone else. After she realized what she wanted, she understood that she could not find that in Leroy. Unfortunately for Leroy, he had found what he had been missing for all of those years, but it was too late for him to grasp it; the change had already taken place. Leroy pleads with Norma Jean to try to work things out and to start over again, but for Norma Jean, she had already begun to start over when he had left her alone for fifteen years. Looking back on th e relationship, blame could never wholly be placed on one character. Over the years Norma Jean and Leroy had begun to go their separate ways by doing what was important to them; together they grew apart.

Give examples of the need for geographic knowledge in diverse areas such as international politics, domestic politics, economics, and popular culture. Geographic Illiteracy by definition is not having geographic knowledge. For example, not being to point out where the United States is on the map or where the Pacific Ocean is located.
